DRUM NEWSLETTERApril 2010 Edition
Most organizations have paid out their last year bonuses at this point or they are about to in the next 2 months based on their calendar year. As always some employees are happy, some earned what they expected and several are disappointed with their payout or lack thereof. Companies are facing tough scenarios with bonus payouts this year because in an economy that is still feeling the pains of the previous 20 months, companies want to reward their top performers but are also trying to be smart with ensuring that they have “reserve funds” if the economy should not continue to bounce back. Also a concern at hand is the political piece of the struggle now that the government is really cracking down on organizations for giving even top performers large bonuses. With regard to bonus payouts companies are used to the standard ups and downs that come with the territory however they are now facing even more scrutiny both from an internal and external perspective. .
